Stuff is great. But it soon becomes old stuff. And before old stuff turns into vintage stuff, it’s just crap old stuff. And who wants that stuff? No one.
But equally, who wants to throw old stuff out? Stuff that! Turn old stuff into cool shiny new stuff without spending any money through the miracle of upcycling! Here are five upcycling ideas and hacks to get you halfway onto The Great Interior Design Challenge!
1. Beer Bottle Glasses
Turn your used beer bottles into free glassware using super science. Super easy science that is. Learn how to do it here and become the envy of all.
2. Skateboard Loo Roll Holder
There’s a whole Wikipedia page dedicated to which is the proper way to hang the loo roll. We assume this upcycling innovation was only invented so that you can hang it both ways and avoid arguments in your flatshare. It also just happens to look cool.
3. Globe Bowls
You probably have a globe from when it was 2008 and ironic colonial references were in – you know, around the time Carl Barat was dressing like the Boer War’s biggest loser. Well, that whole vibe doesn’t fly anymore, so turn your ‘vintage-look globe’ into a cool bowl instead.
4. Bottle Cap Portraits
Everyone has that stack of bottles they can’t quite be bothered to take down to the recycling bin. But until the Wasteland is roaming with Supermutants and Deathclaws, those bottle caps are worthless. So why not turn them into beautiful art!
5. Cork Stamps
And while we’re at it, why not turn old corks into stamps. This is a double-hack because the stamps will help you decorate other upcycling projects in the future! Screw off, screw-tops!
