The UK’s Biggest Religious Celebrations & Festivals

The UK is home to cultural groups from all over the world. Aside from all of the other benefits of multiculturalism (delicious restaurants, vibrant market places, diverse architecture to name a few), this means that the UK gets to enjoy the festivals of every major global religion.

So without further ado, here are the biggest religious festivals celebrated in the UK and where to find them.

Eid-ul-Fitr is the fast-breaking festival at the end of Ramadan – the month in the Islamic calendar where Muslims fast in the daylight hours. In 2015, BoJo announced a huge Eid celebration in Trafalgar Square!

There was food, music and family fun to be had. Here’s hoping this becomes a yearly London tradition for all Muslim Londoners to enjoy.

The cultural steps between the resurrection of Christ and tearing around the countryside, looking for ornately painted eggs is not immediately obvious. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great way to celebrate Easter.

At The World of Beatrice Potter in Cumbria, you can take part in the official Peter Rabbit Easter egg hunt! Check back here for details of next year’s hunt. This year prizes included a stay at a 5-star hotel!

Diwali in Leeds

The Yorkshire Asian Business Association (YABA) celebrate Diwali, festival of lights, with fireworks. They’re putting on a big show at Vico House.

Greenbelt Festival

Greenbelt is a big Christian art festival that moved to Boughton, Nottinghamshire in 2014. It also focusses on justice and promoting various faith-related campaigns.
